Mitsubishi: 2022 Was a Good Year for Sales
Mitsubishi: 2022 Was a Good Year for Sales
Posted on December 1, 2023
2022 has been a tough year for some automotive manufacturers, or even for the global car market, with the lowest sales in 13 years. Some were luckier, or they had a better strategy, perhaps which is the case for Mitsubishi.
The Japanese manufacturer unveiled a brand new Outlander in 2021 for the 2022 model. Then, the Outlander PHEV came out last year as a 2023 model. The new generation Outlander impressed everybody, and it is reflected in the sales for 2022.
In 2022, Mitsubishi sold a grand total of 22 101 units in Canada last year. This is 11 percent more than last year. 7 850 of those 22 101 units were Mitsubishi Outlander making it the best-selling model in the Japanese brand lineup for 2022. The best part about this is the fact the Outlander PHEV only reached the market in November. 2023 should be an excellent year for the Outlander, especially now that the PHEV version will be available throughout the whole year.
The Outlander achieved another critical milestone in 2022 by reaching more than 1 000 units sold in one month, proving the model is getting more popular every year.
RVR
The Mitsubishi RVR has been on the market for quite some time now. It was introduced in 2011. However, it is still looking young and dynamic, thanks to multiple refreshes over the years. Sales were strong in 2022 with 6 149 units, making it the second best-selling model in Mitsubishi's lineup for 2022.
Eclipse Cross
As I mentioned before, the Eclipse Cross arrived too soon on the market. It is a very eccentric vehicle, and the market just wasn't ready for it in 2017. However, things have changed a lot since then, and the Eclipse Cross makes so much more sense nowadays. Mitsubishi sold 4 446 units in 2022.
Mirage
The Mitsubishi Mirage may be one of the most affordable cars on the market, but it seems like people prefer SUVs nowadays. Somehow, the Japanese manufacturer sold 1 626 Mirage in 2022, which is a good number for a subcompact car. Keep in mind that most manufacturers got rid of their subcompact cars due to the general unpopularity of the segment. However, Mitsubishi continues to believe there is a place for this category which therein.
A Good Year to Come
2023 is going to be another tough year for the automobile industry, and it is no secret. However, Mitsubishi is in a good position here. The Japanese manufacturer lineup mainly comprises affordable vehicles, which will be more prevalent in 2023 with the impending financial crisis. The fact that the Outlander PHEV just joined the team will also help. It is one of the best PHEV models currently available on the market, and the regular Outlander is an excellent vehicle.
